Editing Episode 5

Sorry Episode 5 is late.  We had some technical difficulties that caused a delay in our recording.  This may also be why the sound is a bit tinnier than usual.  But I didn't want to just scrap this, so I'm editing like crazy and hope to get this up as soon as possible.  (If I also sound a bit funny, I think I was coming down with a cold during this recording.)

Episode 4: Cybermen vs. The Borg

In this, our forth episode, we do a mini-review of The Dalek Invasion of Earth.  It's an early first Doctor episode.  I've set myself a task to watch every episode that's on DVD from fist to last, in order.  It's probably going to take me a year since I'm Netflixing them, but at the end I will be able to say that I have definitely seen them all.

We also discuss the Cybermen and compare them to the Borg of Star Trek.  Many have wondered if the Cybermen were an inspiration for the Borg, and while we don't have that answer we can compare and contrast the two very similar races.

Of course, after we recorded this episode I realized that the Borg aren't the gray people with all the hardware attached to them that we see.  They are actually the nanoprobes that are injected into people.  That is the actual race.  The nanoprobes have become sentient and this is their way of traveling, via host.  That's how the Borg are able to modify themselves so quickly to defend against an attack.  Via the nanoprobes.  Check out this link to learn more about self-replicating nanobots :

But this is a podcast about Doctor Who, and Doctor Who you shall have!  (Even if we do tend to run off on tangents, it all comes back to DW in the end.)

We have a new feed and a new iTunes listing with the new feed.  If you've subscribed to us via iTunes, please resubscribe here.  If you haven't subscribed yet, WHY NOT?

Technical note: Please be a bit patient with our sound.  I'm trying some new things out to improve the quality.  This is an experiment in progress.  Watch us improve!

Episode 3: Wherein a Minotaur Closes a Wedding

Episode 3 is up.  This one comes to you raw and unedited (at least so far).  I may go back and edit a bit later, but maybe not.  Meanwhile, this is us in all our glory!

Cheryl is back and all caught up on her series 6 episodes.  We explode in to this one by tackling all three of the last episodes: "The God Complex", "Closing Time" and "The Wedding of River Song".  This didn't leave anytime for us to get into anything sciency at the end, but as we geek out about stuff all along we're OK with this.

Episode 2: Wherein Daisy Rants About Torchwood

Our second episode is up!  Weirdly, Cheryl is not in this one.  We were unable to get together in a timely fashion, so I took the opportunity to rant on about Torchwood: Miracle Day.  I try my best to go through it from start to finish, but to be honest, I can't remember great gobs of it and have no wish to watch it again.  So, I'm giving mostly my overview thoughts on it with specifics sprinkled in.

On the science side, I bring you information on the development of those "magic contact lenses".  Right here in Seattle at the University of Washington contact lenses have been in development for the last few years that strongly resemble the ones Gwen uses.  Check these links to learn more:

Episode 1: Wherein We Speak on The Girl Who Waited

Our first episode is here!  It's a rough start, but here it is.  Cheryl and I discuss The Girl Who Waited and how many times we cried.  Also Rory and how awesome he is.  And why Amy can age yet not get gray hair.  On the science side, we figure out how the time compression thing works on Amy, how Two Streams facility can handle all those time streams, and why the TARDIS can't handle two Amy's (could anyone other than Rory?).

Give us a listen.  Give us feedback. We can be found here or on Facebook, Twitter and via email.
